There is no definitive method. Insurance options are limited. Also, be careful on declared value, as if there is one watch that customs knows the value of, its Rolex!

Ask Stonechild about his experience haha!! Bottom line, Fedex won't ship it if its a Rolex, so get it declared as a EUROPEAN watch

Or get a PO box south of the border and declare when you come back across the border. Although FedEx is generally pretty good. I would steer clear of UPS, though. I have had nothing but problems with shipping high-value watches across borders via them.

The UPS store in ogdensburg is another great option for Ottawa folks. They will hold the package for a very nominal sum till you can pick up. I've used them for fishing gear and motorcycle parts for my BMW.

Tons of pick up options across the border. Some don't even register as a P.O. Box.

Yea, its a tough one. Watches under 2k are ok as the tax/duty isn't bad. Detroit has mail boxes that you can get and only pay per shipment. Then they email you when it shows up. Most of the companies are owned by Canadians. Here is one. http://www.detroitmailbox.com

I usually wear the watch back and then ship myself the boxes etc.
