    Rare vintage gold Rolex Datejust

I have a vintage yellow gold Datejust, my intention is to trade it for a modern Rolex, just don't know if it's worth Airking money, Explorer money or Daytona money.
Here's what I know about it:
    Possibly a ref 1602
Factory Morellis pattern (rare, also known as Florentine finish)
    18K gold
    Serial 9350XX
    Original box and papers
original strap is gone, so no strap
Not serviced for a while, watch is not running
Any feedback is appreciated. If someone is interested and wants to trade how do I authenticate the trader's watch?

Nice watch, gonna take a hit because it's not running but the box and papers is a nice touch for such an old watch. Probably worth Submariner money imo but im far from a vintage expert.

Older thread I know, but, I know nothing about vintage watches, so here is my opinion as a newbie Rolex guy.

$1000 tops "as is"...........are you sure it is 18K ?

It will be worth a good buck. 18K gold and the Morellis finish is fairly uncommon as I recall. Not necessarily everyone's taste but it has the older style hands so could be a 1565 movement not 1575? I'd suggest getting an estimate from a Rolex trained watchmaker as to possible repair cost. I'm assuming what could be marks on the dial (shading) are just shadows from the taking of the picture.
I wouldn't suggest trading it until you have a good idea what you have. Check watch forums for solid gold 1601 as that's the closest comparison. B&P is a plus for sure. A nice strap and Rolex buckle would be ideal. An original bracelet, especially 18K Morellis will cost a fortune, especially not stretched.
