    Seiko “Black Series”

    Hi everyone,

    Happy New Year!

It’s been a long time since I have posted a topic and I hope to be much more active in 2018.

As many of you have heard, Seiko will release a new “Black Series” in their diver line-up early this year (February, I believe).

Only one, the black Turtle, is automatic. The other two are solar quartz.

Personally, I love the look of these watches. I think it will be a slam dunk for Seiko.

I have owned a Turtle in the past, and miss it dearly. However, it was too large for my liking and I parted with it to get into another piece I was chasing.

The SNE493 is the watch in this series that I am interested in. I already have two chronographs in my collection and don’t think I need to add a third. However, the chrono is absolutely lovely.

All three would also go nicely with a HD NATO strap with PVD hardware.

What are your thoughts in these watches?

    Cheers!

    Nathan

I really like it and want one ! Ok assume it's pvd? It would make a great ceramic watch but that would drive the price up I guess.

Yes I believe it’s PVD. I also agree a ceramic would be beautiful, but would most definitely be priced accordingly.

I've been in love with that turtle since I first saw it. I think this series is a winner.

Those are nice. I could see adding a solar quartz as a weekend watch.

Photos look great but from my admittedly limited experience, Seiko pvd is a bit iffy. I got a baby monster in pvd which looked great in photos but not at all impressive in person.

I love black watches in photos. Every time I put one on I can’t keep it on my wrist for more that half a day before I switch it out. Even the highest end watch starts to feel like a G-shock to me. Just a personal prejudice.
If I saved all of the money I spent on watches I'd probably buy a watch.

I didn’t mean that as a slight against G Shocks.

    I don't believe you.. even your 7a28 equivalent?! : )

Seiko is going crazy with the turtle. There is also a new grey/silver face version fade blue.. and a gold version..

I'm interested in the upcoming model:
