HOW TO SELL YOUR WATCHES ON CWC AND RULES FOR SELLING UPDATED MARCH 15th, 2021.

MEMO TO ALL WHO WISH TO SELL THEIR WATCHES ON CWC.... THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!

There is a $35 yearly fee applicable in order to access the trading platforms as a seller. The fee will be renewable each and every August 1st. It is not a monthly fee, and it does not matter if you pay on August 2nd, or May 31st. It is an access fee, and that access will expire on July 30th every year.

The $35 access fee grants you the right to list up to TWELVE watches per year on the above $2000 trading platform. There is no limit to how many watches you can sell in the below $2000 trading platform. Same for accessories and non-watch accessories. This is providing that you are a private hobbyist seller.

If you have historically listed 12-24 watches per year, then the access fee is $100. If it is above 24 watches per year, then the access fee is $250. If it is beyond that, we need to evaluate on an individual basis.

NEW MEMBERS: You will have to spend 90 days as an active member, and contribute at least 30 posts that are relevant to the community before you may apply for selling access. Once you have achieved the minimums, your account will be promoted to that of a regular member. At that point regular member rules will apply.

All NEW MEMBERS as well as existing members who have never sold before on CWC, will be required to be vetted before being granted selling access. You will need to provide proper identification. This is not an option. This is for the protection of the entire CWC community and is strictly enforced.

We assess and vet all new member applications to the best of our ability. The forum moderators will undertake to implement new selling standard rules to the best of our ability. If we miss something, we are always appreciative of the community giving us a head's up. Please note that responsibility of CWC extends only to listing access and basic vetting. As always complete diligence is required before any dollars trade hands, and CWC in no way accepts responsibility for any transactions that occur on any of the platforms. BUYERS... ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS OF SELLERS THAT YOU LIKE AND EXPECT CLEAR AND PRECISE ANSWERS TO ALL OF THEM. YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO REQUEST MORE PHOTOS AND DETAILS ABOUT ALL DISCLOSURES. Most sellers are already up to these standards, and I hope the rest will understand the need for greater clarity and adopt them.

If you wish to sell, you can easily self-assess the category that you fit into. Here is what you need to do:

Send your access fee by EMT (Email Interac) to moderator@canwatchco.ca and include in the body of the message your user ID and the email address that you signed up with. Please do not include any other information in the message. If you wish to communicate with me feel free to send me a PM. PLEASE SELECT A PASSWORD FOR THE EMT THAT WILL BE EASY FOR ME TO GUESS.

NEW WATCHES: If you wish to sell a NEW watch in the above $2000 platform, YOU MUST COMMUNICATE WITH ME FIRST. There will be a $100 fee for each NEW watch you list.

Canadian Watch Collector Sales Forum Rules.

***NOTE TO ALL NEW MEMBERS... READ THIS SET OF RULES BEFORE YOU LIST YOUR WATCH. IF YOU LIST WITH ANY VIOLATIONS YOUR LISTING WILL BE REMOVED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE TERMINATED, AND YOU WILL BE DENIED RE-ENTRY***

NO MEMBER MAY HAVE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT ON CWC. IT IS A BANNABLE OFFENSE.

IT IS THE SELLER'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TO ALWAYS CHECK THESE RULES IMMEDIATELY BEFORE LISTING ANY ITEM FOR SALE ON OUR SITE.

    1. EVERY LISTING must have an asking price. If your listing is FOR TRADE only, you must include a trade value. ALL prices MUST be in CANADIAN dollars. This is an all Canadian site. If you are cutting and pasting from another site PAY ATTENTION to inserting CANADIAN DOLLARS when posting it here.

    2. EVERY LISTING must include AT LEAST 6 photos of the watch (or accessory) that you are selling. ***IF YOU ARE LISTING IN THE ABOVE $8000 CATEGORY, THEN YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO POST AT LEAST 10 PHOTOS OF YOUR WATCH WITH BASIC REQUIREMENTS. (DETAILS BELOW)***. In any category, If you post a watch with a couple of wrist shot photos, the listing will be REMOVED. No warning. YOUR PHOTOS MUST BE ADDED AS AN ATTACHMENT OR THROUGH THIRD PARTY LINKS THAT EMBED THE PHOTOS IN YOUR LISTING. NO REDIRECT TO OUTSIDE LINKS TO VIEW PHOTOS.

    3. ACCURATE description of the watch in your words is OBLIGATORY. FACTS that will be backed up by your photos. Age, Condition, Origin etc... Box, Papers, Links etc...

    4. Sellers assume FULL responsibility for their listings. Any watch sold on behalf of friend or family member will be deemed as your watch and you remain fully responsible to the buyer.

    5. BNIB (Brand new in box) watches require a listing fee of $100 UNLESS the watch is more than one year old. Do not offer brand new watches and pretend that they are used. USED means WORN... not for a minute or an hour, but for actual pleasure. Worn means destickered and sized and that the watch is more than 90 days old and has signs of wear.... and proof shown in your photos. It does not matter whether you bought it yourself or on the secondary market... new is new and used is used.

As in the past, no retail brick and mortar watch dealers may advertise any watches on CWC, unless watches are only one aspect of their business and seller is a forum sponsor at the first or second level. If seller is an Authorized Dealer of any watch brand, then they may not offer new watches whatsoever.

    6. Seller location MUST be properly listed in their profile: Knowing in which city you and your items are located is important to potential buyers. If you lie about your location, or change it after you register you will be permanently banned.

This setting in your profile takes a few moments to set and clearly states to potential buyers where you and your items are located, in case they wish to arrange an 'F2F' ('face to face') transaction with you. As with all other rules, this is to help your sales listings succeed.

    7. No "procurement services" allowed whatsoever. If you do not own it and have it in your possession you may not offer it for sale or trade.

    8. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY PERSONAL INFO in your listing ie. phone, email, instagram account, facebook etc... If you want to provide it after contact is initiated, then that is fine. You must be certain which member it is who is contacting you. This is for your protection as people MAY NOT be who they say they are. Do not use watermarked photos that have your personal or business name... or instagram account. No advertising of personal businesses in your listings whether they are watch related or not.

    9. Sponsor members are by invitation only. They will have designations indicating their status in their profiles. The endorsement of these sponsor members is limited to their general standing within the community, and CWC does not endorse any specific aspect of the product that they offer. They will however be required to uphold strict standards vis-a-vis "buyer satisfaction".

    10. Sellers may not offer shipping exclusively on "your label". Every buyer, no matter where they are in Canada should have the same chance as anyone else to purchase a watch. Seller must offer shipping, and not just face to face transaction. Seller MUST have a shipping account to provide that service, and MAY NOT force the shipping arrangements on the buyer. This type of arrangement can be negotiated between experienced buyers and sellers. Not all buyers are sellers and should not be expected to be responsible for shipping... that remains the responsibility of the seller. Seller is not obligated to accept an offer including shipping if a face to face option is available to them, although to not give a chance to buyers in all corners of Canada is counter to the spirit of this forum.

    11. Affiliate shipping programs are offered exclusively to vetted CWC sellers. You must be an active seller on CWC to participate.

Members may not solicit the watch trading community with offers to "procure" (acquire/buy) new or used watches on their behalf. This also applies when responding to "WTB" (want to buy) ads. Simply put: members may NOT advertise or otherwise offer to other forum members any item(s) they do not already possess. (Rule #4 applies when buying/selling on behalf of someone who is not a forum member). Members who have not been vetted and/or are not currently up to date with access fees MAY NOT OFFER ANY WATCHES FOR SALE IN ANY MANNER ON CWC.

You may only respond to WTB posts if you have been vetted and cleared to sell on CWC. If you use the WTB to circumvent the rules your account WILL be banned permanently.

You may only place a WTB post on CWC once you have completed 90 days and completed your 30 posts.

BUMP ups may only be done once your post is no longer on the first page.

Maximum of 3 listings on the front page for the general community (new listings or bumps) at any time. First tier sponsors may have 6, and second tier sponsors may post 8 listings per day.

ONCE AGAIN, THE ABOVE RULES ARE AN EFFORT TO MAKE BUYING/TRADING ON OUR SALES FORUMS SAFE, EASY AND CONVENIENT FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. WE MUST STAND HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE ALL OTHER UNREGULATED TRADING PLATFORMS.

***NEW RULES REGARDING PHOTOS AND WATCH DESCRIPTIONS: Going forward all new listings will be moderated before they go live on CWC. This is a temporary measure until such time as all sellers have read and understand all of the new rules.

These rules are being put in place in order for CWC to remain the safest watch trading platform in Canada. They are designed to benefit both the buyer and the seller. IF YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR MULTI THOUSAND DOLLAR WATCH ON CWC YOU MUST BRING YOUR LISTING UP TO A STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE.

There are two main aspects to your listing. PHOTOS & DESCRIPTION. You must dedicate sufficient time to both aspects to make your listing complete. When done your watch will be more desirable and will sell easier and attract better offers. You may not simply state what your watch is and add photos. You may not simply say "up for sale is my nice xxxxx"....

ASPECTS OF YOUR WATCH: Your watch has 4 lugs, two case sides, one bezel, one crown, one caseback, one clasp, a boxset and papers, and two lengths of strap or bracelet. EACH AND EVERY ASPECT MUST NOW BE PRESENTED IN YOUR PHOTOS.

If using the attachment function of CWC please make sure that your photos are smaller than 5mp before you upload them. If you have more photos than the listing will permit, add more in a follow up and they will be merged together once spotted.

CLEAN YOUR WATCH PROPERLY BEFORE SHOOTING. MAKE SURE EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR WATCH IS PRESENTED IN YOUR PHOTOS.

INSPECT EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR WATCH THOROUGHLY AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ON ANY AND ALL BLEMISHES. GENERALIZATIONS ARE LIMITED TO BRAND NEW WATCHES ONLY.

YOU MUST PROVIDE INFORMATION ON AGE (APPROXIMATE IF NOT ACTUALLY KNOWN) AND ORIGIN (UNLESS NOT INDICATED ON DOCUMENTS).

    REFERENCE NUMBERS ARE CRITICAL.***

Other helpful tools include original msrp and servicing information. UNLESS YOU ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE WATCH DO NOT SPECULATE ON WHETHER OR NOT IT HAS BEEN POLISHED. Do not state that the watch has been serviced unless you have the proof to back it up.

By all means use the reference number to glean as much info as you can on the watch from the Manufacturer's site and provide it in your listing.

Please note the change to rule number 2. YOUR PHOTOS MUST BE ADDED AS AN ATTACHMENT OR THROUGH THIRD PARTY LINKS THAT EMBED THE PHOTOS IN YOUR LISTING. NO REDIRECT TO OUTSIDE LINKS TO VIEW PHOTOS.
