Up for grabs is an extremely rare & highly desirable watch (especially for you space nerds out there). This is the Breitling reference designed for astronaut Scott Carpenter for his Mercury-Atlas 7 mission. Being a fan of the Navitimer ref. 806, Scott Carpenter requested specific changes to be made, including a 24 hour clock to differentiate between AM & PM while in space. Breitling listened, and designed the Cosmonaute you see here, and the rest is history.
This Breitling is well preserved and in excellent condition. It includes the original Breitling decorated manual winding Venus 178 calibre, which remains very clean. The dial, hands, crystal, and case are also original. Further details below:
