Up for grabs is the quintessential Navitimer. The reference 806 is what started it all. Ahead of its time, and remains not only a classic but also a timeless watch with vintage aesthetics and modern proportions.
This Breitling Navitimer ref. 806 dates back to 1969 (birth year anyone?), and comes as watch only. It is sold as-is. It is running perfectly well, and the chronograph flawlessly functions to spec. It may be due for a service in the near future, but the price reflects that. The lume has patinated to a dark tone, which is quite common with these watches from what experts have told me. The bezel rotates bi-directionally as it should. Further details on this watch below:

In the early 1950s, Breitling collaborated with the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) in order to make the slide rule of its Chronomat even more relevant to pilots. The end result, the Navitimer, was a well-conceived tool watch with outstanding legibility. The very first examples came with an all-black dial, but eventually the sub-registers became white to increase the contrast and make it even more legible. Similarly, the AOPA logo was replaced with the twin-jet logo, and the beaded bezel also evolved. Despite these minute cosmetic changes, the Navitimer remained pretty much identical through the years, proving how well executed its first draft was.
