For sale is my 1974 Omega Speedmaster 145.022 calibre 861, with the collectible step dial. These early step dial omegas are becoming much harder to find, especially in this type of condition. The case is in exceptional condition for its age, and the matted black dial is absolutely mint with matching creamy markers and hands. The DN90 bezel has faded into a grey/blueish colour. Not often do you see these vintage Speedmasters in Canada.

This particular watch is rare in that it holds one of the few -74 cases that have the step dial. The 145.022-71 casebacks all had a step dial. But only a few the early casebacks of it’s successor, the 145.022-74 caseback, had a step dial. Why? Because of the quartz crisis, Omega had movements sitting on the shelf. They produced more than the demand - so extra movements were left sitting. Then in 1974, they put the remaining 73 movements they had in storage into some of the early 74 casebacks. And that was the end of the step dial. All this information is available on the Omega Forum.

The watch comes with a 1171 Omega bracelet and 633 end links. Also included is the Omega extract from the archives, which shows the date of production and the market it was delivered to. The watch was purchased from HQ Milton in April 2016 and is currently running at COSC spec. I’ve included the link to the original HQ Milton listing of the watch below. This is an excellent vintage iconic watch, with tremendous history.
