For sale, circa 1983 Rolex Day Date, box, papers, and extras. 36mm, yellow gold with silver dial.
The watch was recently (December 2022) overhauled at Rolliworks in Miami, including a full service, case polish, spot laser weld repair (for minor pitting and dings), and bracelet stretch repair. The watch comes with a full 2-year warranty from Rolliworks, and all replaced parts come with the watch. A full receipt and work order will be provided with the watch.
The president bracelet has 12 links on the 12 o’clock side and 9 links on the 6 o’clock side. As I understand it, the bracelet is missing 3 links. Brand new, solid gold spring bars affix the bracelet to the head.
I would put the watch head in 8/10 condition. Beautiful, thick and even lugs with no dings or dents anywhere on the watch head. The caseback shows some signs of wear but presents beautifully with appropriate brushed and polished areas. The bezel is crisp and sharp (it was re-finished with the last service). The watch dial has a blemish at the 12 o’clock minute track and minor spotting on the dial (visible with a loupe but barely with the naked eye). Hands are clean and crisp, lume plots show signs of age, with some light bruising and deterioration.
The bracelet shows signs of age, and I would put the condition around 7/10. The bracelet is about 90% of its original tightness, thanks to Rolliworks’ service. The bracelet shows pitting and some light dents. The coronet is worn, with some detail remaining. Clasp locks securely, and no wiggle in the hinge points.
The watch comes with box, hangtag, and original signed and stamped papers (the watch was sold in 1983, 700XXXX serial).
Extras: The watch comes with a green alligator strap with a genuine Rolex solid 18k buckle and pin. Watch also comes with the original day wheel (Spanish) and a champagne dial which is in superb condition (full lume plots).
I have receipts for when I purchased the watch, purchased the strap, imported the watch, and for the full RW service. Additionally, I have a clear Watch Register report that will come with the watch.
This would make a brilliant birth-year watch (40th birthday) for someone (including yourself!). I have ample feedback with CWC (FleetFox), and will not hesitate to provide any photo from any angle. FaceTime or Skype is also fine, and a F2F sale is available anywhere in Saskatchewan (the watch is located in Regina). I have disclosed everything I know about this watch, and am not affiliated with Rolex or any of its affiliates. I am not in a rush to sell and will entertain offers including trades (modern Rolex preferably) with cash from the buyer.
