Available for sale today is this gorgeous example of one of the most iconic wrist watches ever made, the Rlx GMT Master II with the Pepsi bezel. This 16710 is a true collectors set and includes the watch, all links, box, papers, both hang tags as well as a throw in rlx branded microfibre cloth.
Originally designed for Panam pilots, the GMT master was brought to market to facilitate travel by giving you the possibility of keeping track of up to 3 times zones accurately and reliably.
This watch is in excellent condition considering its 26 year lifespan. The watch features sharp lugs with the factory bevel still present, the bracelet is super tight, the coronet on the clasp is fully raised and the crystal is scratch free. On 9 o’clock side of the case flank there is a small mark where the underside of the case meets the edge of the case, presumably from being set on its side a few thousand times. The bi-directional bezel has faded beautifully just a touch over the years offering a slightly more muted red hue. There is a scratch mark on the bezel at 18 hour marker. Overall I would rate condition an 8/10.
When looking at the papers accompanying this watch we can see it was born a 16710A meaning it was born from the factory with a “coke” red and black bezel, this can always be sourced to add with the package for a fee should the buyer require.
