Hey folks
Up today I have my SBGP017 I’ve had a for a few days now.
Received in trade and while I’ve had this watch before, I’m still impressed by the dial work and attention to detail on the movement given its price point.
There are very minor signs of wear on the watch as it has been enjoyed previously and the 44GS case is known to be a scratch monster. Signs of wear are some micro scratches on the bezel, thin hairline on the bottom left lug and minor brushing wear to 1-2 links on the underside near the clasp.
Those who know, know that a 9F movement is nothing to snuff at, while this model takes it a bit further with the 9F85 caliber retaining an accuracy of +/-5s per year, denoted by the star at 6. Thus far, I’ve not had to adjust it once and I’m told the same by the previous owner.
The “sea of clouds” moniker is derived from literal sea of clouds that form around the mountains on some mornings in the Shinshu region where this and all Grand Seiko quartz watches are made.
I’ve had a similar Grand seiko in the past - the SBGA435, with a very similar of not identical dial colour/texture, however that was a limited edition of 182 pieces and carried a price point over 10k; which makes this SBGP017 a compelling piece given that I’m pricing it under retail at $4800 f2f or plus shipping. Please be mindful, I’m not looking for trades at this time and I ask to respectively refrain from lowballing as I know these typically sell over $5k and I’m offering it cheaper owing to the above “detractors” and for a quick sale.
