Most die hard Seiko fans are familiar with the MM300 lineup.
Similar in most regard to the standard SLA MM300 models, this 500 piece limited edition features a steel case as well, with the brand’s proprietary “Black Hard Coating”
This coated case lays the canvas for the dial artistry in the form of a “Seigaiha” patterned blue dial.
The influence of nature is infused into the Japanese culture and as such the “Seigaiha” moniker was bestowed on this limited edition owing to this very Japanese texture derived from “blue ocean waves” as a symbol of peace, good luck and good fortune.
The watch still feature a black ceramic bezel insert and a GS finished 8L35 movement
This example is in near mint condition with no notable signs of wear to the case and buckle.
The watch measures at 43.5mm x 49mm x 15.25mm, which is why it feels more like a 42mm watch, built a bit curvy.
The lume on the bezel and hour markers are generous and last throughout the night.
All in, this watch punches well above its weight and looks like a far more expensive time piece than it actually is.
The watch includes double box, Seigaiha scroll, warranty card, manual, hang tags and the “Seigaiha” cuff links, which I’m curious to see someone pull off.
These models were only released in the US and carried a price tag of $3200 USD, about $4400 CAD equivalent, before taxes and duties.
Comparables outside of Canada are approx $2400 pre tax and duties.
