Hey folks
Up for grabs is Mido’s recent showcase of their watchmaking prowess with the Multifort 8 Two Crown series.
Presented in a number of colourways, this PVD Rose Gold model is likely my favourite for obvious reasons; it presents like an actual gold timepiece, looks way more expensive than it is and can be dressed up and down as the occasions arise.
Featuring a 40mm case width, a 9.8mm thickness and short lug to lug of 44.9, makes this watch wear like a dream on my 7.3” wrist but would yield similar results on a wrist under 6.5”
The octagonal bezel, with its polished sides provide an almost jewel like appearance and is a bit on the nose when compared to designs from brands like VC, GP and AP.
Regardless of the copycat syndrome, the watch holds its own in its price point and allows the wearer an opportunity to partake in the integrated bracelet style of watch at a mid luxury level without having to yield to the PRX or Tsuyosa options.
The overall aesthetic is emphasised by a horizontal relief stamped dial with white Super-LumiNova providing low light visibility on the indexes
The inner rotating bezel is reminiscent of the compressor style of watch and is activated by the crown at 2 o'clock that does provide the haptic feedback we so love in a dive watch, while time setting is done by the 4 o’clock crown. Both crowns are screw down and as such, a true 100m water resistance rating.
The cal 72 powering the watch is derived off the ETA 2892, just modified to yield a longer power reserve, resulting in a lower beat rate which hasn’t affected accuracy at 0s/day.
Just over a month old, the watch retains its full 2 year warranty and comes as a full set in excellent condition.
Retail on this model is $1810 and not readily available, let alone at a substantial discount.
I’m asking over 20% off retail at $1425 shipped from the GTA
