The Citizen Chronomaster CTQ57-0954 is part of Citizen’s flagship “The Citizen” line, Japan Domestic Market (JDM) models focused on precision, durability, and understated refinement.
This particular reference dates to the early 2000s and represents an earlier generation of Chronomasters powered by the venerable A660 high-accuracy quartz movement delivering exceptional timekeeping performance without reliance on radio or GPS synchronization. It embodies a “set-and-forget” philosophy: once set, it maintains near-perfect time with minimal intervention, supported by a perpetual calendar and independently adjustable hour hand.
The case and bracelet are rendered in Citizen's proprietary super titanium with duratect coating. The superior scratch resistance is evident in the watch's condition despite its neo-vintage status. It is also notably thinner (10.3mm) compared to later Chronomaster references with ergonomic downturning lugs. Lug width is the universal 20mm accepting the widest range of straps.
This reference is also sports a rare glossy blue lacquer dial that shifts depending on light source. Most models on this line you see online is either in the cream or black dial. The hands also have lume, which is another feature not available on the current models. The seconds hand is painted white for legibility.
This comes as watch only and condition is reflected in the photos. Things of note are a small ding at 11-12 o'clock of the bezel. The bracelet is currently sized for my 6.5 inch wrist with 2 additional removed links.
