Hey folks
Up for grabs is a banger of a watch and a veritable bargain if you’re looking to get your hands on a true hi beat timepiece.
Produced for a short initial run, this model features the Suwa logo and omits the “36,000” notation found on later models, substituting it instead for the brand name.
Perfect as a daily driver, it features the day and date, with the latter being a quick set and the prior requiring the rotation past 10 o clock for “quickset” and yielding a slow automatic change.
The watch comes in at a svelte 36mm and a 42mm lug to lug
The watch looks like it has been polished at some point, but not poorly as the edges are still intact, just a touch dull, which is not uncommon for a half century old timepiece.
This example comes on a quality hirsch strap and the previous owner went to the effort of sourcing a modern GS buckle, pictured and about $200 as an upgrade.
The gold medallion at the caseback is in good shape and still shows adequate detailing
There is an age spot on the dial between the 4 and 5 marker. To me it adds character and serves as a reminder of the watch’s age, there are some that would disagree, but those that do would be wrong, lol
The watch is keeping good time for the age at -12s a day and amplitude around 239.
Overall, this is the truest representation of the Grammar of Design as intended by Taro Tanaka and is echoed throughout the watch.
I am including a GS watch pouch in the package as well for the next owners travel pleasures.
Asking a reasonable $1499 given the upgrades mentioned.
F2f GTA or shipping at cost.
