Up for your consideration is a 1978 Rolex Oysterquartz reference 17013 in two-tone 18k Gold. Serial starting with 5,91X,XXX.
This is not your regular Oysterquartz, which is a rare watch in itself. This is with the more rare dial that only says "Oysterquartz" because it did not have COSC certification. Introduced in the fall of 1977, all Oysterquartz models were not COSC certified until mid-late 1978. So any Oysterquartz produced from late 1978 to around 2001 (when they were discontinued) would say "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified".
If it's true that Rolex only made about 25000 of these watches in 25 years, it's conceivable to say that there are roughly around 1000 ever produced that just say "Oysterquartz" on the dial, without the COSC certification. And much less for the two-tone model.
Purchased from Thillier Time, a Montreal-based seller, who completed a full movement service and battery change earlier this year, with the balance of a one year warranty on the service of the mechanism that started February 20, 2017.
The case and bracelet has previously been polished, but has light wear from use.
The bracelet is stamped "C" which makes it period correct for the watch, and has a little stretch, but remains in excellent condition, given its age.
The crown is in excellent condition and turns and winds as it should.
Comes with watch only. No box or papers.
