Reluctantly offering my beloved and highly sought after vintage Seiko 6138-0030 JDM SpeedTimer aka Big Blue Kakume (Kakume means "square eyes" in Japanese).
This gorgeous early example has a sunburst blue dial, lumed arrow hands (later examples used straight & no lume), yellow chrono hands (later examples used red), and of course that unique Kanji day wheel. Venerable 6138 movement is the 2 register successor of the 6139 which competed (and possibly won) as the first automatic chronograph movement in 1969. All chrono functions work perfectly but service history is unknown.
It took me almost 2 years to find this example in Japan with the following must have items: original Seiko 5 Sports H-Link bracelet (will fit up to 8 inch wrist with extra link included), outer 5 Sports box, 5 Sports shield box (!), and even a small booklet.
Specs:
- 42mm x 46mm (short hooded lugs)
- 18mm lugs
- Serial dates it to Oct 1973 and case shows typical wear for a 45yo watch
- Timekeeping and chronograph works as it should
Asking $2000 EMT or F2F west of GTA (Oakville, Sauga, Brampton) and will include shipping in Canada.
