Makes me feel old to hear that this watch is becoming somewhat of a classic now, since I remember when it was introduced. It was a very expensive "premium" Rolex model - more costly than even the Daytona or two tone Submariner!
The 16622 is a discontinued reference but represents a departure from Rolex sports watches. It's thinner and more elegant than the others, which allows it to fit under cuffs and be worn with a suit. However, it's monochromatic stateliness and stealth appeal, to the uninitiated, make it at home with jeans and an old t-shirt.
This is a watch that isn't trying to prove anything. It's clean lines and subtlety have made it a classic. This one is an A9 serial. No box or original COSC but does have appraisal paperwork. It is missing one link and l, save for a few bezel marks, doesn't appear to have been polished or tampered with - as evidenced by the intact hologram on the caseback! I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. In excellent condition for its age. I'll price it at $6500 to move quickly, as I see prices climbing on anything discontinued. I can't find any even near this price. For minor changes, the 116622 costs far more and is still in production. So there is tremendous value here...
