Catch and release for this bad boy
For sale or trade today is this excellent example of an A-serial, 2-liner, no-date, submariner. For a watch which is very nearly 20 years old, it's in excellent shape. It doesn't look like it's ever seen a polishing wheel. There are some very light scratches and swirlies consistent with desk diving. The two main flaws are going to be a small dent on the bracelet on the 6 o'clock side, and a very slight 'weirdness' on the flat-4 bezel insert. The weirdness is hard to describe. It's sort of like a very shallow concave part between 20 and 25 minutes. Service history is unknown, but it keeps pretty bang-on time.
No tags or papers included, only the green leatherette wooden box with tan suede interior.
Sale price is a very fair $7200 CAD.
Trade value, I would place at $7500 CAD. This is, of course, negotiable.
If you were thinking of a trade, I am looking for a black dial 16570 in unpolished or very very lightly polished condition. 3185 movement would be best, but I would consider 3186. If you've got a black-dialed, 5 digit, explorer 2, I'm your guy.
Talk is cheap, pictures are key. Please see below for an accurate representation of this beautiful submariner. I took a shot or two to highlight the above mentioned flaws.
Thanks for looking, and I hope to hear from some of you soon!
Cheers,
Matte
