I hate to see this go, so this would be a specific for trade ad for a watch that I've had my eyes on for a long time or something that has a date complication.
Up for your consideration is a Rolex reference 5500.
It looks unreal in person. Drop dead gorgeous.
If you know the story behind the Explorer 5500's and can appreciate it's infamous background, here it is.
I bought it from the original owner who said he's had it since it was new and claims that it is indeed a Rolex Explorer 5500.
The story is that back in the early 2000's, he brought the watch in for a service and Rolex replaced the dial with an Air-King dial.
Even when he did specifically say that nothing be replaced, it came back with a new one and he was charged for it.
Long story short, he did want to return it back to original by purchasing an aftermarket dial and having it replaced. The original hands stayed.
I have no way of proving the story - as such I am offering the watch up as a Rolex Air-King 5500 with an aftermarket dial.
It comes with the vintage Rolex bracelet.
I am looking for a Datejust 1601 or 16014 in a trade.
Either those or a watch that has a date. I work a desk job and it is essential for me.
Thank you.
