It is with regret that I post this watch for sale. I had considered stashing this one away for a long, long time as it is already and will continue to be a sought after collector's piece. Life has changed and watches just are not the passion they once were for me. I've made the decision to chop away at the collection and get down to the 3 pieces I wear most often that cover the bases I need to cover. Sadly this watch never got any wrist time. In the years I've owned it I maybe have worn it for 10 total hours. While it will be missed I know that whoever picks this up will have an heirloom piece that is not easily acquired. On to the watch:
Condition of the 50th Anniversary model is phenomenal. Aside from some very light rubs to the bracelet it is like new. It is also a full kit of the original goodies. It comes with the huge outer box (has a little tear on a corner from storage), it has the diver's light watch case where you can store the watch in the visible glass dome and the bottom opens for storage of the rest of the kit. There is a presentation stand to hold the diver's light and display the watch, all books, manuals, warranty book, hang tag, bracelet changing stand and tools, rubber dive extension band with Blancpain signed buckle, extra bracelet links (currently sized for a 7.5" wrist), unopened Blancpain microfibre cloth as well as a Blancpain warranty pouch that came back with the watch. It was serviced by Blancpain in 2017 and has the pouch the watch came back in, all parts that were removed and replaced are there along with the Blancpain timing results after repair and ticket. You will not find a better or more complete package than this.
In 2019, Blancpain wrote up a nice retrospective review of the watch that probably tells it better than I can:
Blancpain 50th Anniversary Flashback
This model was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary (1953-2003) of the Fifty Fathoms collection and maintains a more true to original size. A limited run of 150 units were manufactured worldwide. Those 150 pieces were split into 3 different series: series I (Asia), series II (Europe), series III (North America). Thus each series was limited to a production run of 50 pieces. This being a series 2 would make it a European model. This watch is serial number 25 of 50.
Case is made of high-polish finished stainless steel while the X71 bracelet (full-link) features both high-polish finished and brush-finished stainless steel. Mounted atop the case is a unidirectional rotatable stainless steel diver's bezel that is equipped with sapphire covered black bezel insert.
Time and date are displayed on a black dial that is accompanied by luminescent filled hands as well as a combination of luminous index and Arabic numeral hour markers. The date aperture is located between 4 and 5 o'clock. The lume on this watch is unparalleled.
Recently Blancpain began the pre-order for the 70th Anniversary model so if you would like to purchase a larger non-traditional case size with no bracelet and a larger print run of each series being 70 each and 210 total, then you can definitely pay a little more money if any of those are still available for pre-order. I've conversed with a few people who have done the pre-order and they paid more than I am about to list this one for.
I've been following sales of these over the years as I've come across rare examples. There is a current Series 3 for sale with nothing but the watch for $20K. In the past, after conversion to CDN funds, I found 5 total sales. All fell after exchange between $22-25K but nothing in the past 4 years. None of these packages were as close to complete as this one.
I am asking a very fair $25000.00 for this set. Shipping will be included at this price via Flagship with priority overnight, insurance, signature, etc. for your peace of mind. Payment via EFT only from vetted buyers with verifiable references. Please do not hesitate to inquire with questions or for more photos, videos, etc. Also please feel free to search my refences on CWC or WUS or happy to provide more from other sources if necessary. I am willing to possibly entertain a partial trade towards this one however I may be discerning about what I would take. Just for notice, I have zero interest in a few brands like Rolex, Cartier, Zenith, Ulysses Nardin and a few more, so unless you would like to give up enough value on these for me to turn around a quick flip it at that price I likely won't have any interest in those brands.
