This is the Hamilton Tachymiler (H71 726 233). Hamilton is well known for its sports watches, especially those with an aviation theme. The Tachymiler is unique because it is a chronograph with its pushers and crown on the left hand side of the watch. I also believe it was not sold in the US market.
This Hamilton was my first major watch purchase a little over 10 years ago. I fell in love with this watch. It is signed by Hamilton on the right hand side, as well as on the bracelet clasp. Each of the Crown and the pushers are signed with an “H”.
The watch contains a version of the Valjoux 7750 movement but with only the seconds, the date wheel, and the 30 minute counter. The display back allows you to see the movement and the Hamilton signed rotor.
The crystal is sapphire surrounded by an engraved bezel with a tachymeter scale. The subdials are slightly recessed. The watch is rated water resistant to 10 ATM. The stainless steel bracelet is impressive with solid links and end pieces. The black dial version of this watch is unique as it has black centre pieces in the bracelet, whereas the white dial version is all stainless steel.
This is a big watch at 47mm diameter (including the crown guards) and 54mm lug to lug. It is 15.5mm thick. It has heft but is extremely comfortable on the wrist. This watch will not go unnoticed when you wear it. Included is the original Hamilton aluminum presentation box, outer cardboard box, hang tag and two links with pins. I am in the process of trying to locate the manual.
This watch was serviced once by the Swatch group service centre in Toronto when the screw down Crown broke while I was pulling it out to set the watch. The Crown was replaced and the original Crown is included. This watch has performed flawlessly since then.
I am only selling it because I haven't worn it in over two years and its time for someone else to enjoy it.
The MSRP on this watch was $1,495 as per the hang tag. I am asking $700 shipped anywhere in Canada. I accept Pay Pal or Interac Direct Payment. I have bought and sold on Ebay (deswayze) and CanWatchCo before and have positive references.
