Hi folks, a buddy of mine highly recommended this site so I just signed up. I've had a fascination with watches as far back as I can remember (playing with my Dad's watch as a little tot). My oldest watch is a P.S. Bartlett grade Waltham 1883 that belonged to my wife's grandfather. I like the technology inside watches as much as their aesthetic appeal, and have started learning about watchmaking (finished TimeZone Watch School level 1 and working on level 2). I look forward to learning and sharing here.

Thanks folks! Here's another pocket watch in beautiful condition. It's a 992B Grade Hamilton Railway Special (Lever-Set Model 5). This one belongs to my father, and originally my grandfather. My grandfather was the Chicago Yardmaster for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway until he passed away in 1945. This was the watch he used for timekeeping at the railway.

Thanks for sharing photos of your watch.

I really find it interesting to compare vintage watches from the same era, especially when they have the same dial layout. It's amazing how many subtle differences there are, even though they look the same on first inspection. Little things like the edge of the 6 o'clock Roman numeral peeking out from behind the seconds dial cut-out on my watch, or the offset 24-hour markers at 5 and 7 o'clock on yours.

Both numeric fonts seem a little taller on mine -- makes me wonder if the watches are actually the same size. Do you know the specs for your watch? Mine can be found here: https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/search/result/waltham/10026374
