Up for sale is my 42mm MIDO Great Wall ref # M0156311105700. As with many of Mido’s watches, this architectural inspiration has influenced the design of this model, utilizing the brick type look both on the dial and case sides, and bracelet. Mido has been producing watches in Switzerland since 1918.
This is the very popular and harder to find version with the black face and red accents. It boasts a COSC certified ETA 2836-2 movement with a 40 hour power reserve. Sapphire crystal with a great AR coating, which really shows off the dial. Because of the beveling in metal of the applied numerals, the look of the face is constantly changing as the light hits it in different ways. Sometimes the numerals appear to disappear when sunlight hits them in a certain way (see the last two photos). The watch has a display case back and there is some minor decoration in the movement. Watch is water resistant to 100 meters and has the Mido patented (cork inside) screw down (signed) crown. The bracelet has a butterfly clasp with all extra links. It is highly adjustable as it comes with a number of half and full links. Beautiful build for a watch at this price point.
Watch was purchased at Arizona Fine time in Phoenix in 2014 for USD $1,200.00 ($1540.00 CDN) and MRSP is USD $1,490.00.
Watch has been worn lightly and in rotation. The head of the watch is perfect, while the solid link bracelet has the odd mark, which could easily be removed. No dings, flea bites or scratches and still keeps time within COSC specifications.
I am selling this watch for $800.00 CDN plus shipping. This is a great chance to own a unique looking watch with great components at a very reasonable price.
