Good morning all and a brief introduction. I’m from the Brighton Ontario area, into denim, watches, and trying to keep my kids and wife happy. Not always an easy task with the first two hobbies. Thank you guys for having a resource like this and I look forward to positively adding to your community.

I may have posted this in the wrong area as there is also a new member introductions thread. My apologies…

Welcome to CWC @goosehd

I was born and raised in Belleville, so not far from you. Nice to see someone else from the Bay of Quinte on the forums.
It’s a beautiful area, but it does have its drawbacks.

My wife and I were looking at adding a few watches to our collection and on a weekday, we received a call that the watch my wife was waiting on had become available. Dropping everything and fighting through TO traffic to make it to the dealer before they closed was challenging to say the least.

Another was not realizing that some retailers now require appointments to see watches. That was a bit of an annoyance as we thought we could just pop in to see what they had (answer was nothing in stock).

Hopefully the situation has changed for the better and things are returning to some since of normalcy.

My parents still live in Belleville but it would be very difficult for me to move back there these days. Most of my clients are in the GTA and my wife works in Pickering a few days a week. Commuting back into the city for work would not be a good time. I like the pace of living out on the BoQ though and I do miss that aspect of life. I haven't been able to jump onto a frozen pond to skate in a very long time.

I'm guessing you're looking for a Rolex? If so, you're not the only one who's frustrated. Check out this thread...37 pages and counting: https://canwatchco.ca/threads/rolex-ad-wait-times.81536/

Things are getting a bit better. Some members are getting "the call" for certain watches. Other popular steel Rolex models like GMTs and Daytonas are still impossible to get at retail unless you have big spend history or are well known to the AD (read: because of big spend history).

We were looking for Rolex and thankfully found what we were looking for, although the experience was quite a turnoff.

My first nice watch was a Brietling that I walked into a store and purchased on spot. Same with my first Rolex. Phoned up RDV in TO and picked it up the next day (with a discount). Had not realized how much had changed during the interim. We stopped into Raffi thinking that it would be the same experience as my experience downtown…
