Hello All,
Nice to be here with you on a Canadian forum.
Call me a vintage watch & auction enthusiast, I picked this up in 2023 and in 2024 got seriously into buying/fixing/growing skills/growing knowledge/selling/enjoying/having too many watches/participating in the community. I recently started attending NAWCC Chapter 33 meetings in Toronto - great to talk watches in person! - and plan to be at the next meeting in March, say hello if you're there.
I buy and sell pieces from the collection or extras from bulk lots/auction finds a few places: eBay, C24 and the NAWCC meetings. Happy to have a local resource here!
My current collection (~30) skews heavily vintage 60s and 70s with a few (3?) pieces that are from the last decade.
Most recent arrival (i.e. yesterday) is a delightful 70s Tressa Lux Crystal with muticoloured textured dial, an AS 5206-1 with tri-lingual date (English, Turkish, Arabic).
Writing this, I'm wearing an old favourite - 1973 Omega Geneve Automatic (ref 166.0163 with cal. 1012) on a handmade leather strap. It was a service award watch for 25 years at DOFASCO (what up Hamilton!). given in 1977 and was rarely worn judging by the condition I received it. I've done the crystal and had it serviced.
I post on WUS with a similar handle and write up the occasional interesting watch that comes into my grubby hands or projects. Often times to catalogue an interesting watch, learn more from others, and put the info out there for anyone interested (and my own reference). I'll also chronicle fixes/clean ups/or auction find projects/
I look forward to being part of this forum and contributing!.
Thanks and regards,
