Listing a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1500 with original papers. The serial number dates the production year to 1966. I got the watch from a close friend who’s dad had given it to him over 20 years ago. My friend told me with certainty that the watch has never gone for a service and never been polished. His dad bought it in 1967 from a Rolex Dealer in HK and wore if for about 5 years and then the watch was never worn again by anyone. Just by looking at the watch, I can say with confidence that its never been polished – the lugs are thick and very sharp. I believe the 1500s are 34mm, but I measured 35mm on my meterstick. The thick lugs on the 1500 compared to the Datejusts of this era, makes it wear bigger, like a Datejust. For its age, this watch is absolutely mint – I can’t stress this enough. This guy’s been a close friend for 20 years, so I fully trust what he told me regarding the history of the watch. But its very easy to tell that it hasn’t been worn for the last 30 years and that its never been polished. He confirmed that his dad had never once taken the watch in for a service. Sale comes with the watch and original papers, no box. The papers look small in the picture, but they are the same size as the classic green Rolex certificate - seems to be an 8x11 sheet of paper. Lastly I've timed the watch for the last 12 hours and its spot on - but i'll have to time it for longer to see over the course of a couple days, how well it tells time. Lastly the bracelet stretch is minimal for its age, as the picture shows. I have many references all the major watch forums.
