Rolex 5015 Bubbleback -- 100% Original Estate Watch with Full Service

Here is a rare and collectible Rolex Ref 5015 Bubbleback Oyster Perpetual in great vintage condition and 100% original.

It is a one-owner estate watch. SN 666XXX dates to 1949. Serial number is present on the outside case back, along with ROLEX OYSTER CASE (faint). Case is 34 mm with crown and 39 mm lug to lug.

Dial and hands have even patina. There is a faint stripe from centre to eight where the hands sat for a long time.

Just serviced by an independent watchmaker and then inspected at the local AD. The movement is an automatic cal 630 (Rolex Report, Dowling). The crown (NOT the movement) is slightly worn. The recommendation was to keep the original crown and apply slight outward pressure if the watch needed winding. This watch winds easily, runs very well and keeps time.

Crystal has been hand polished by me.

The Ref 5015 is by far the scarcest and most collectible Rolex bubbleback. Here is one in excellent vintage condition, 100% original, serviced by a top-notch watchmaker and then inspected by Rolex AD.

Offered here for $3200 OBRO. EFT or FTF in Ottawa. No trades on this one and of course more pictures on request. Good references here and I am easy to Google.

Please use my email nsidor@sympatico.ca. Thanks.

To clarify--the reference and serial numbers are of course on the case between the lugs. For some reason the SN is also on the outside case back.

Reduced asking price is now $2900. That is a screaming deal, I think. :)

Cheers, Nick

Bump again. If it helps you out on a partial trade, I'm looking for a 1950s Seamaster with the fat lugs, and/or a Tudor Prince automatic date with small rose logo (1950s). Condition is important. PM anytime and let's see what you're tired of. Thanks,

Nick

Can't believe I'm bumping this again. Very rare and collectible Rolex and a tough one to find--never in this condition at this price. Let's hop on it, guys.

Some interest here on CWC and elsewhere, but still available, so here's a bump. Still $2500. Cheers, Nick

A sharp-eyed CWC member has let me know that the dial on this watch is not factory original. I know the provenance of this watch, and so we suspect that, back in the day when this was "just a watch"' the local watchmaker "improved" the dial for his customer. Fairly commonplace at the time.

A thousand curses on those watchmakers, but at least they were well intentioned. In any event, I'm withdrawing the sale offer, and will hang on to this one. Thanks.
