Selling a very rare SINN 103 Klassik, limited edition tri-compax chronograph. This is #249/500.
If you know SINN, you know the company has a wonderful, independent nature and was founded by former Luftwaffe pilot Helmut Sinn in the 1960s. This 103 Klassik reverse panda was a limited issue based on one of the original SINN reverse pandas available from the company in the early days. However, true to SINN they baked in an enormous amount of technology into this Klassik watch with the use of inert gas-filled case, copper sulphate anti-moisture capsule (located at 7 o'clock), and an embellished Valjoux 7750 movement visible through the sapphire caseback. Additionally, the bezel is a bi-directional pilot style countdown with 60 clicks. Screw down pushers and crown give this watch a 200m water depth rating. Date is discretely sitting between 4 and 5 o’clock and does not detract from the symmetry of the dial. The silver/white subdials have a beautiful texture to them when viewed closely. Case is a perfect 41mm diameter, 20mm lug width, and has tons of wrist presence.
I bought this particular example 18 months ago from the previous owner and decided after wearing it for several months to send it to SINN Germany for general service. Due to the gas-filled case it requires special handling to open the caseback. In the end, the watch spent 5 long months with SINN Germany and had extensive work done. In all, 680 Euro spent (not including shipping costs both ways) for the total service which included new sapphire crystal, crown, pushers, seals, gear, new copper sulphate capsule, has filling, etc. I felt at the time that I might as well do it all. Paperwork indicating all this work was performed is included as well as the original removed parts.
Per the pics, the watch comes with original boxes, warranty card, owners manual, black leather band with signed SINN buckle, tropic style rubber band (which looks perfect on it IMO), and ALSO a brand new SINN H-link bracelet with solid end links purchased from SINN Germany when I had the work done. The H-link bracelet is new, never installed, never sized. Whole kit includes a SINN zippered storage case too per the pics.
Should go without saying, all stopwatch functions of the watch work exactly as they should. Watch keeps extraordinary time at +/- 2sec/day. YMMV. Never worn in the water (at least, not by me). Overall condition is very, very good, used condition.
These very rarely come up for sale as they are typically treasured by their owners, and for good reason. I'm reluctantly selling this beauty for $4650 CDN. Watch is in Toronto (Etobicoke) and available for viewing by serious buyers. Prefer F2F in Toronto. Thanks for looking. Mark
