I took this piece on trade for some work.
The original owner told me it was a 5500, so I was hopeful that it would be a 1971 and I would keep it.
That is not the case.
This is a 1974 5520 Air King Precision
Brought it to Time Sharpening in town to authenticate. Owner said movement was legit and in very good shape.
This watch has hairline scratches and some deeper scratches in the plexi.
Plexi is original. Watch is believed to be fully original from 1974 as per stamping and serial number 3074XXX
Movement is original 1520, holding time. I do not know if it was serviced, and I am under the impression it does not need servicing as per my discussion with the watchsmith.
Watch is Gold Filled 1/10th 14k
The bracelet clasp has a deep enough dent in it that I am basically selling the watch head, and throwing the bracelet in at no value because of the dent.
That means, if you don't mind the dent - you score a very nice unstretched bracelet.
or
get yourself a nice fancy 19mm minimal leather strap from Aaron or whoever so it looks like this:
**Note - that image is not mine, and it's of a 5500 not the 5520 that I am selling, it is an example of what my watch could be**
case is 34mm without the crown
lugs are 19mm
movement is 1520 auto
this watch has not been polished
no box/papers to go with it, what you see is what you get.

I have seen on various forums these things listed for $4000 and up.
That is not realistic - which is why they sit.
I have a value this must hit in order for me to break even on the trade.
There is a current cash offer in town that is close to my number but we are not there - so I am listing it here.
F2F in Ottawa would be fantastic.
Not taking trades as I have enough in the safe already, thank you.
**NOTE** there are more images on the Flickr album in full res. Please be sure to look there and fire your questions away.
Shipping is at your expense, so I can send it any way you like - we can discuss this if no F2F possible.
payment with E-transfer
no returns, buyers remorse, spousal shunning, etc.....
$2350 + shipping at your expense. I have a pelican type watch case I will ship in for optimal safe arrival.
I have a 7.5" wrist. This fits loosely on me, I have no extra links - so this photo is to show you how loose it is on my 7.45" wrist if I'm honest
*****The case back is tight, but not fully secured or waterproofed as I wanted to take some high quality images in the lightbox at home. The new owner should have the caseback secured before going anywhere near water*****
Thanks for looking
I have tried as honestly as possible to disclose every bit of info that has been shared with me about this piece.
