Hey folks
Up today I bring you what can only described as one of the most collectable President variations out there.
Nearing the half decade mark; these neo vintage presidents feature a tree bark finish on the bezel and centre links, harkening back to a bygone era where watchmaking and watchmakers took risks and innovated in unparalleled ingenuity.
The 18078 is unlike most of its predecessors as it houses the caliber 3055 which features a 28,800 vph along with a quickset date, a first for the brand as they replaced the outgoing 18xx models which house the 1556 caliber movements.
The “7” in the 18078 indicates the bark finish to the watch and is very characteristic of the time period it was produced. Rare to behold and uncommon in most collections, it is sure to be one of the most unique pieces you will own.
While a full gold President might seem ostentatious to some, it is undoubtedly a watch that tells anyone who lays eyes on it, “I’ve arrived” - whether your donning shorts and tees, your favourite suit or your birthday suit, this watch makes a statement.
Included is everything you see in the pictures (service pouch, calendar holder, two booklets, the briefcase style box, and the outer box)
At 36mm it is classically sized, and fits a 7” wrist well. There are no issues of note to the movement and winding is crisp and sure.
By my count, there are 22 links, 4 that have screws and two of which are removable.
With a 5.2million serial number it is circa 1977/1978 dated.
The Date and day change is a snap near the 12 o clock change over and condition for a watch nearly 45 years old is truly excellent. The edges and chamfers are sharp and well defined. There as some signs of wear on the case sides, however bear in mind this is not your $25k steel Rollie, but a full 18k gold president, that costs far less at $22750 shipped or f2f in the GTA.
