Hey folks
Up for your consideration is a watch that’s been steadily gaining popularity and is now highly collectable.
This A serial 1998/1999 "Swiss only" dial Sea Dweller bears the original dial evidenced by “Swiss” betwixt the minute hash makes, whereas service “swiss” only dials sit atop almost non existent minute markings at 29/30/31.
The watch includes the original box, warranty paper, card holder and calendar card from 1998/1999.
There is evidence of surface wear on the watch indicating it has seen some careful rotation over the years, however nothing incredulous and I’ve taken the pictures in relatively harsh lighting to showcase wear at its worst and provides a comparative picture to show how the watch would appear indoors
The bracelet and clasp also have some scuffs/scratches which could be polished out, however I would keep them as is. There is a tiny scratch on the aluminum bezel between the 20 and 30 on the bezel.
Coming in at 40mm it wears incredibly well on my 7” wrist and is fitted perfectly for it and there are two additional spare links in the box.
The reference 16600 is beloved by many as it provides better wearability than its successors that sport the maxi case and was one of the first few watches to boast the superior 904L steel and as such, it feels as robust as a modern time piece while maintaining a vintage vibe. It also houses solid end links that were replaced during service, so your strap change can be done via the lug holes or via the underside of the end links
There are a total of 13 links, which includes 4 removable links. The divers extension which essentially houses 2 links are not included in the above count.
There’s Ofcourse 2 solid newer end links without the flat backs
In terms of accuracy, I have no recent service records and recently received the watch in a trade with a forum member, however after about 15 minutes on the timegrapher, it’s running at a solid +1s a day and a good amplitude of 293
Asking $ 15,750 obo f2f in the GTA or plus shipping. Partial trades can be considered at $16k value, though a strong preference to cash deal.
