Hey folks

I’ve had a ton of Grand Seikos since I started collecting, with one of the most beautiful being the SBGA413 “Shunbun”.

Alas the titanium was a no go for me, while the dial texture was by far my favourite aspect of the watch.

With the departure of that watch, the search commenced for a blue dial alternative in steel, whence I came upon this beauty.

A very light powder blue, that transitions from sky blue, to off white, to cerulean depending on your lighting, it has been nicknamed the “Skybridge” and is a Chinese limited edition of only 222 pieces worldwide. ,

The dial, meant to convey clouds over a clear, rural Chinese lake, and unlike it’s 413/415 counterparts, the colour and texture never really mute. The power reserve on this Spring Drive changes from a clear silver to a deep gold, symbolizing sunlight casting through clouds and onto the surface of water.

Rose gold accents can be found on the GS logo and the seconds hand.

The watch case mimics the classic SBGA211 with trapezoidal indices giving off a touch of sport but this time in a 40mm case.

While Grand Seiko has publicized that there are 222 of these available, only 182 exist; there are no examples with the number “4,” which is considered unlucky and homophonous with the word death in the Chinese culture, which is the market this watch was released in.

The watch comes as a full kit and I am the original owner. Dated early 2021, it holds the 5 year warranty from GS and keeps amazing accuracy as can be expected from the 9R65 Spring Drive movement.

The watch is currently sized for a 7” wrist loosely and will fit a wrist size of up to 7.5”

There are minor signs of surface wear on the clasp, one or two near the bezel, however if these are your focus, you’re clearly missing the point of this watch and that’s to experience true luxury and art, on wrist.
