Acquired this beauty 2 months ago, as new old stock from Italy as a warehouse find. It's in the best possible condition a 25-30 year old watch could be.
Intended to keep this one forever, but another watch has caught my eye so this one must go.
Asking $1350 shipped OBO. Price based on research of previous sales. Consider a mint one rarely appears, especially within Canada.
Condition
Overall 9/10
Case: 10/10
Dial: 10/10
Bezel: 10/10
Case-back: 9/10 blue wrapping was disintegrating and removal of this created hairlines on the mirror polish.
Working Condition: 10/10 Observed as excellent for the 2 days I wore it. Keeping time and pushers and chronograph features work as expected. Held power for ~2 days after it came off wrist.
Description
Case: 40mm (large for a vintage watch)
Lug Height: 45mm (wore great, even for my large wrist)
Lug Width: 20mm
Thickness: 12.5mm
Power Reserve: 50hr (I think, see movement description below)
Service History: Purchased as NOS, sitting on a shelf it's whole life.
Strap: Looks like crocodile to me. Applied mink oil to restore and waterproof, darkened suede backing.
Age: Late 80's or 90's
Movement: I wasn't brave enough to remove the caseback, but based on my research and other similar listings, it should be a LWO 283. This is a modular chronograph ETA 2892-2 with a Dubois-Depraz module. Two quirks give it away 1.) Sunken date magnifier 2.) Pushers sit above the crown. Here's a video talking about modular chronographs. I could be wrong, so please don't quote me exactly on this.
Packaging: Comes in a round Hamilton box, with a brown outer cardboard Hamilton box. No papers.
Please note: This is a 25-30 year old vintage watch. I have to the best of my ability communicated it's working condition from my limited time with it. I make no guarantees for waterproofness, or mechanical condition past what I have observed above. If you intend to wear it often, might be a good idea to get it serviced and tested for waterproofness.
