On a guilt trip after adding a rather pricey 8F56 alpinist to the collection and need to let some watches go.
For sale is my Hamilton khaki field mechanical reissue (Watch ref: H69429931; Case Ref: H694290) with ETA 2801-2 beating at 28800bph. This is one of the last Hamilton watches using an ETA movement. The newer 80hrs power reserve of Cal. H-50 is nice for a manual wound watch but I prefer the beat rate of original reissue (and presumable ease of service). I find it special that this watch has the same smooth sweep as that of a modern Rolex.
Sorry to go on a tangent but I also did some research a while ago to find out if this is the only “no date” khaki field mechanical ever to boast a 28,800bh. Majority of the “no date” khaki field mechanical watches before the H69429931 reissue beat at 21,600bph but I think I was able to find some obscure examples, which also had the 28,800bph ETA movements. Please feel free to DM, or chime below, if you have more information on this curiosity of mine.
Hamilton advertised this watch to have a PR of 42hrs, but if you go to the ETA webpage below you can see some photos of the movement and interestingly a mention of PR of 50hrs. If I remember correctly, when I did the test I got close to 48hrs. Thinking about it now, leaving a watch in dial-up should yield higher PR than on the wrist. https://www.eta.ch/en/our-products/mechanical-movements/mecaline/eta-mecaline-2801-2-unavailable
Back to the watch for sale today. Watch is mint with no ding, fleabite, or scratch on the watch that I could see. I am asking C$450. I prefer F2F in GTA but can ship on buyer’s expense. Please see below the specifications and the photos that I took this morning. There is simply no better “Swiss” watch at this price point in my opinion.
I have some buying/selling references here that can you can lookup. Please let me know if you have any questions, or need more pictures, and I will be happy to help.
PS: the denim used as background is not part of sale.
Mods: I hope I have not violated any of the new rules. If I have, kindly let me know and I will rectify.
