Hey Folks,
Up today, I have a treat for the die hard Rolex or vintage/neo vintage enthusiast, the Explorer 2, “Polar” in one of the rarest configurations available.
Arguably, one of the most iconic watches, the Polar Explorer was initially designed for the “Spelunker” while its main function today is gracing the wrists and watchboxes of discerning WIS.
The 40mm case compliments and is suitable for most wrist sizes and features the rare “Swiss” only dial that was only in production between late 1998 to 1999 which signified the transition from tritium to Luminova.
This transition was short lived as the brand discontinued this version in 2000 when they transitioned to superluminova as indicated by the “Swiss Made” dial
The short production period of this particular model makes it highly desirable and collectible, and is one of the models that is sure to increase in premiums over time.
Only a few of these are currently available and with collectors scooping them up, they are going to be progressively harder to come by, especially as White and Green dials seem to be the flavour of the year.
There are a few minor signs of wear on the watch case and bracelet as it was previously given a light polish, however it still retains fat lugs and strong lines in very good condition.
The watch comes with 11 links and is fitted to my 6.9”ish wrist. There are about 4 more micro adjustments which leads me to believe this will fit about a 7.25”ish wrist rather well.
Included with the watch is the original warranty certificate.
This is an “A” serial model that is dated to 1999
I’m looking to net $13399 shipped for this champ.
