For sale or trade is a collectible and a truly special rare gem. This is the same model worn by Bruce Lee that was recently auctioned at Phillips for $28 700 link here https://www.phillips.com/detail/UNIVERSAL/HK080219/860.
Polerouters are getting more and more popular and theres a reason for that. Over the years Universal Geneve has gained massive cult following among watch collectors. So if you see someone rocking one, you know they are a watch connoisseur.
Watch has a lot of character and charm coming in 35mm, 44.5mm lug to lug, thickness of the watch is 9mm with domed crystal and 6mm without! 19mm lugs. (It wears suprisingly well on my 7" wrist) currently on a new black leather strap. Case is gold plated. Movement is cal 215 being only 4mm thick. This was the first microrotor produced by Universal Geneve! A generous 60 hour power reserve .An interesting historical aside is the fact that the Polerouter was designed by a young Gérald Genta in the early 1950s (the same guy who designed Royal Oak, Nautilus) Developed as an antimagnetic timepiece for the pilots of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), the watch was issued to the pilots of the inaugural SAS flight from Copenhagen to Los Angeles, which went over the North Pole and its stronger magnetic fields.
Initially named the Polarouter, the watch was given to SAS pilots and management, with the company timepieces having the SAS logo on the dial.
Watch was never polished and is in a good vintage condition with slight patina on the dial. Reference number is 20363-3. Watch is due for a regular service. Everything on the watch is original except the strap. Had it checked by a friend who is a Polerouter specialist and everything matches with the database he created on www.universalgenevepolerouter.com
I did my homework a nice original Polerouter with cal. 215 will run you north of 2000 dollars and this being a collectable model im asking 2200 or a trade for vintage Seiko Chronograph 6139-7010 plus cash on top, oris 65 40mm, Nomos Club 38.5mm, vintage Omegas, or if you have something interesting as well give it a shot. It pains me to do this and i know i will regret it but i seek to shake up my collection a little. So while it is still here take action or you will regret it !
Prefer to deal in GTA.
