Hello CWCs,
For your consideration is my Rolex Explorer II Polar dial ref. 16570 40mm. This is potentially one of the last ones produced with the perfect 40mm case seize and perfect proportions. This one has engraved rehaut, and the 3186 movement. The serial number is also engraved between the lugs, in addition to the rehaut. This watch comes with full set box and papers and everything as when received from the AD.
My wrist is on the larger side at 7.5 inches and this is how it looks on my wrist for reference.
Where did I buy the watch?
I bought the watch from a well known dealer in the USA. I was looking for a very clean version and complete set, as most of the polars for sale were incomplete set, unknown service history, and/or bad condition. It took me quite a while to find the right one. I bought this one last year and wore it mostly on the leather strap and little bit on the rubber.
Service history?
Yes, this watch has full and complete service history. It was originally purchased in December of 2011 and serviced in 2016. Then it was serviced again recently in September 2020 by RSC, so it is still covered by the 2 year Rolex international service warranty.
Case condition?
The besel is super clean, I cannot see any scratches, looks perfect. The case has very few and faint hairlines that are hard to spot but visible under certain light conditions and with careful inspections. The lume is very bright and the timekeeping is amazing at 1s per day. The lugs are sharp although one lug, at 1 o'clock, has a very minor dent at the underside of the lug. Because the tiny dent is under the lug I chose not to polish it because RSC will either do a full polish or none, they will not do just one tiny under lug spot. I checked with RSC Toronto and they quoted me $350 to polish the case which I declined. Please see the caseback picture, top left lug is being described, I tried to zoom and enlarge the seize but in real life it is barely noticable.
Bracelet condition?
The bracelet is in excellent condition, I don't see any scratches. All links are on the bracelet.
Why am I selling?
Many people ask me this question so I thought I will answer it upfront. Last year I went a bit berserk and bought 7 watches. My collection is too large for my liking, many timepieces are spending too much time in the safe deposit box, and my aim is to reduce the collection to my usual number of 3-5 timepieces that get lot of wrist time.
Price?
I am asking 11,950. shipping will be included via ParcelPro / FedEx overnight delivery. Local F2F is also possible.
