Very Rare Seiko 6139-6032 from 1971 - 21 jewels. Very few examples of this watch in almost perfect condition are out there these days.
What makes this beautiful watch so rare:
1. This watch has 21 Jewels. Most 6139s have 17 Jewels.
2. The Colour of the dial on the 6032 is black. All other 6139 models have only Yellow, Silver, or Blue dials.
3. The Bezel is Black and Red, all other 6139 models are Blue and Red.
4. This watch is Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), very rare. Only (JDM) watches have "Sports Water 70m Proof" at the 9:00 position, and "Speed-Timer" at the 12:00 position. No 6032s ever sold outside of the JDM.
5. The dial has a unique inner rotating chapter ring with Orange accents and a countdown timer. Only 6032s have this kind of inner rotating chapter ring. All other 6139 models' inner rotating chapter ring are all one colour with no countdown timer.
Totally restored a number of years years back, but I have only worn it about 10 times since the full restoration.
Full overhaul of the Movement, which included a total breakdown and build-up of the movement + all new seals. All new Synthetic Oil used throughout, so it's good for another 30 years.
Case has been refinished to Original Specs - some very small scratches on the case on the lugs. A very nice Re-Lume of the Dial, Hands, and Indices using SuperLuminova. This thing lights up like a glowworm. Second hand and Subdial hand are also near perfect. Dial and Bezel Insert are almost perfect. Crystal is also almost perfect, meaning I can't see any scratches anywhere on it, and it's super clear. The result? A Near Mint vintage watch for you to enjoy for decades to come.
Comes on a very nice Seiko branded Stainless Steel 22mm Oyster bracelet from Chronograph.com. The band has a much wider stance than the original band and feels like Silk on your wrist - very comfortable. The watch runs like a champ. Keeps super accurate time as I have ever seen in an automatic watch. Setting the time, date, and day are all smooth. Pushers are tight but not too tight and when used, the Second hand snaps back exactly to the correct 12 o'clock position. The Subdial hand snaps back about 1mm to the right of the 12 o'clock position.
Price is firm. I don't need to sell this watch, having said that, the only reason this watch is for sale is because I have over 50 watches, with more than a few vintage Seikos, and other brands. I never wear this watch, for it to sit in my desk drawer for the next 10 years I feel wouldn't be right. This watch is a 47 year old piece of art and it is a beautiful thing to see, have, and to wear in real life, the pictures do not do this watch justice. I feel that at this point in my life, I am a little older, the watch should go to someone who can appreciate and enjoy it. Not that I haven't to some extent, but it is time to move it onto someone else.
It took me almost 2 years to find this example that was worth restoring, that was very difficult. Plus, I then had to find a watch maker who I could trust to do the restoration. And let me tell you, there are very few watchmakers who can do what was done to this watch. Finding one, sending the watch to him in the States, having him do all the work, then having the watch get back to me from the States was all very difficult to do, and very stressful. I was constantly worried about losing this rare piece in transit both ways. Plus, although the watchmaker had a great reputation, there was no way I could know for sure that the work would all be done correctly, as I hadn't had work done by him before. Almost no one will work on these movements, so you have limited choices as to who does the work. But in the end it was all okay.
Finding a piece like this on the market today, well... I just don't think you can. The watch now looks and runs like it was just bought in '71. You will not find an example like this anywhere. This watch is Simply stunning!
I don't know what more I can tell you about this watch, so any questions please ask.
