Up for grabs is a vintage Speedmaster, just in time for the moon landing anniversary!

Serial number is 32 xxx xxx which dates it to ~ 1973-74.

Watch was purchased from a prominent seller here on the forum last October. It was serviced just prior to the sale and is running well.

From what I know, early 1970s was the transition period with the end of step dials. This dial does not have the step; I’m not sure if it is original or an early service replacement. But I do know the tritium is beautifully aged and it looks fantastic!

I’ve installed a sapphire caseback from Thomas Priek to admire the legendary 861 movement. The steel caseback is included too of course (although most of the paint is missing as you’ll note in the photo).

Bracelet is a replacement 1479 model from the early 90s. It will fit up to an ~ 7.5” wrist.

Case has nicks and scratches (especially the underside of the lugs) in keeping with its age but no serious gouges.

No box or papers. Will come with an omega service case.

$4850 including overnight insured shipping.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional photos.

$4600
Mostly looking for a sale but happy to listen to interesting trade offers. Blue Pelagos perhaps? Grand Seiko?

A helpful member has just identified the dial as a “drop R” (note how far below the rest of the Speedmaster text the r is). These date to the late 1980s. As such I believe this to be a service dial from that era.

In light of the confirmed service dial, I’ll drop the price to $4250

So not a collector piece...but not priced like one either!
Would make a great daily wearer with nice case, wonderful patina, and the bonus sapphire caseback!
