For sale is my vintage Rolex Datejust 1603 Underline dial, with serial number 821,104, dating the watch to 1963.
The dial is without any imperfections and all the lume plots are fully intact.
These underline dials are extremely rare and are seldom seen in the wild, as they were only put on Datejusts, GMTs and Submariners in 1963.
The Rolex underline dials were only used in 1963 when rolex stopped using (radioactive) radium for dial and hands, and started using tritium. The horizontal line on the dial indicates that the dial contains ‘no radium’. The ‘underline’ indicates the transition period.
The hands are the original dauphine hands, and the hand lume match the lume dots perfectly.
The jubilee bracelet is a 62510H and is in excellent condition with no stretch. Clasp code MA5 dates the bracelet to 2005.
Service history unknown but the watch is keeping perfect time and is in no need of a service.
The watch can be purchased head only or with the jubilee bracelet.
$3600 without the bracelet and $4500 with the bracelet.
