Up for sale or trade is my Vintage Rolex Submariner 5513 Meters First. I’ll start by saying the watch is in incredible condition and is a near perfect example of a rarely seen Meters First Submariner.

Meters First matte dials were produced from 1966 to 1970, before Rolex made the switch to Feet First. I have read that perhaps the reason for the transition from meters first to feet first was an attempt to increase sales in the US market, a country that had not at the time and still has not widely adopted the metric system.

The dial is absolutely perfect with no imperfections at all. All the lume is original and fully intact, with no chipped or missing lume. The lume on the hands perfectly matches that of the markers. The dial has aged to a greyish-blue-matteblack finish.

The bezel insert is a MK3 insert which is also original to the watch. The insert has a consistent fade all around with no noticeable scratches or marks. The insert holds a tritium pearl that has also aged with patina.

The case is in great condition and has had a light polish. The polish is very nice in that the bevelling of the chamfers is still in their true form. The inside of the caseback is stamped 2nd quarter of 1967 (II.67) and the reference number, 5513, and serial number, 1,596,XXX are clearly visible between the lugs.

The rivet bracelet is original to the watch, and is stamped 7206 on the inside of the top link and the clasp is stamped 4th quarter of 1966 (4.66). The 7206 bracelet is full size, with 12 links (7 on top and 5 on the bottom), and comes with their 80 end links. The previous owner wore it on a newer bracelet and didn’t use the 7206 rivet bracelet. The bracelet has absolutely no stretch, as the pictures show. He told me that the bracelet had never been polished. Hence it does have a few cosmetic scratches, but none that are noticeable to the naked eye.

The movement is very strong and has a long reserve for its age. It’s telling absolutely perfect time, as per COSC spec.

In terms of the history of the watch, I bought it a while ago from a vintage collector in Toronto. He’s had it for many years and had purchased it from a vintage Rolex dealer in NYC.

$18,000 OBO

Trades would have to be vintage Rolex and some modern.

PS. Please note that in the four pictures of the lugs, there are rain drops on the watch, particularly the bottom right lug. They look like marks or dents but they are rain drops. My apologies.

WITHDRAWN. In light of the sale of a 5513 this week here on the forum and the price that it sold for, I've decided to hold on to this one for the time being. I did get many offers including one $500 below my asking price, as well as an incredible trade offer (that I may one day regret). Thanks for the interest and my apologies for flipping the script on this one.

Feeling super bored and spontaneous this morning. Any trade ideas? Rolex only and preference towards vintage. Thanks
