I regret to put this one up for sale as it is my daily wear and the most enjoyable and comfortable watch that I own. I’m unfortunately selling it for one reason: to fund a grail.

For sale or trade is my vintage Rolex Submariner 1680, serial 5,093,395, dating the watch to 1977.

The 93150 oyster bracelet with 580 end links has clasp code “VB” dating the bracelet to 1977.

I’ve louped the watch and I believe that the case is unpolished, and I’ll leave that up to the buyer to see if he agrees with me.

The lugs are completely symmetrical, and the same is to be said about the crown guards.

The dial is a Mk1 dial, which is now quite rare to see. The Mk1 dial is differentiated from later dials in that it has the MAXI lume plots.

The insert is a fat font, which is correct for a 1977 1680. The insert has aged to a nice matte black fade.

The wheel date has open 6’s and open 9’s as it should. The acrylic crystal has some scratches, particularly the one at the 11 o’clock.

The bracelet has no stretch but does have some scratches. The VB clasp matches the serial year of the watch, and has very few scratches. The bracelet comes with 11 links and the divers extension.

The service history is unknown but the watch keeps bang on time. Anyone that’s owned a vintage Rolex with a caliber 1570 movement, knows how much of a workhorse it is.

The eggshell patina on the hands exactly matches the patina on the markers on the dial.

The tritium pearl on the bezel also exactly matches the patina on the hands and dial.

This is as good as a 1680 example that you can find, with an unpolished case, a Mk1 dial and as close to all original as you can find.
