Vintage 1940s Omega Tank Rectangle Watch - SOLID 14k Gold

A fantastic piece from the 1940s!

The watch features a solid 14k yellow gold case manufactured for the US market by Apex. The case is very well preserved for its vintage. The case measures approximately 38mm from top lug to bottom and 24mm width without the crown. The lug width is 18mm.

The dial features applied hour markers and a subsecond dial. I don’t know much about these models from the 1940s but the dial appears to be original and unrefinished. The convex shaped crystal causes some distortions.

I believe the movement is a manually wound cal. 17.8 with 17 jewels. The movement appears to be in great shape and there are a number of watchmaker marks on the inside of the case from previous servicing. I do not know when the watch was last serviced but it is keeping good time. As with any vintage watch, a service is recommended if you intend to wear the watch daily or expect close to perfect timekeeping.
