This is the third of three vintage Speedmasters I intend to sell to keep the wife happy. I figure 3 fewer Speedys in my collection is better than having to reduce it by half in a divorce
. My loss could be your gain!
Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022-68ST “Transitional”. This was the first Speedmaster reference to feature calibre 861 after the discontinuation of calibre 321. The dial is unique to the 68ST in that it carried over the long indices and applied metal logo of the previous 145.012. These features were dropped with the advent of the 69ST, earning the 68ST its Transitional moniker.
Movement #2655XXXX suggests February 1969 production. Watch keeps time and the chronograph functions. Service history unknown.
Overall Condition is fair/good. However, there are some originality issues to note. Specifically, though the case back is a correct 145022-68ST variant, it is not original to the watch. Also, the bezel is an incorrect B2 DNN type (should be a B1 DON), and the hour and minute hands are service replacements (the chrono second hand may be original).
The dial is fair. Correct C1 stepped variant with applied metal logo and long indices. Lume material is no longer present.
The bezel is fair. Though it is a vintage DNN example, it is incorrect for this reference as noted.
The crystal appears to be an unsigned generic replacement and has some scratches and imperfections.
The case is good. Though it has been polished dulling the sharpness of its lines, there are no major dings or blemishes and it presents well.
The case back is fair/good. Though not original to the watch, it is correct for the reference. The etched Hippocampus logo is intact, though there is wear and some scratches.
The pushers and crown appear to be service replacements.
Offered head only fitted with a gorgeous Strap Tailor strap.
Asking $6800 + insured shipping via FlagShip. F2F in the London area also possible.
Positive feedback here on CWC and references available if required. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or request additional photos. Cheers!
