I am selling a Rolex 5500 Explorer, otherwise known as the Air-King Explorer.
It was recently serviced and runs well. It keeps good time and winds easily via both the crown and the rotor.
The crown and caseback both lock down tightly.
The tritium lume still glows faintly.
Rolex produced these throughout the 60's. They are effectively re-dialed 34mm Air-Kings with Explorer dials. They have cal.1520 movements, which are non-hacking, simple and robust work-horses.
A catch and release for me. It dates from approx. 1969 (Serial Nr. 29953XX).
The case and caseback show some wear. The case does not look like it has ever been repolished. The acrylic crystal was replaced following its last service. I do not believe the Oyster bracelet it comes with is the original one, it may have been replaced at some point.
It does not come with boxes or papers.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
I am looking for $1,895- inclusive of shipping
Thanks.
