Vintage Seiko 6119-8090

Avid readers of CWC's vintage section will know that I picked this up on the weekend. Bought from an NAWCC member who is downsizing, as am I. But its condition was amazing; the dial is absolutely beautiful, and there you go--another Adventure in Watch Land.

I am not a Seiko collector, so happy to offer it here to anyone who is.

The details:

Watch dates to October 1968, according to a Seiko lookup site.

Dial: pristine dial with lots of shimmer and markers that bounce the light. It has radiating silver finishing, crosshairs, a little pop of red in the day window. Not a mark, not a flaw. Even the hands look like they were made yesterday.

Case: almost New Old Stock, original factory polish and bevels. A couple of visible dings. Obviously this watch has hardly been worn. Serial number is 800361.

Movement: 21 jewel automatic, clean as a whistle. Apparently, a hi-beat 21,600 BPH. Running strong and keeping time. Note that this watch runs only from the rotor movement, and NOT from the crown. Quirky idea, IMHO, but who's to say?

I looked at several other examples on eBay. This one is in the best condition by far....again, virtually unworn.

All in all, I think that $135 with shipping on me is a fair, no-dicker asking price. And a bargain for any of you collecting vintage Seikos.
