The ORIS Player's Watch has a self-winding mechanical ETA 2824-2, 25-jewel movement with all-steel water-resistant case. It is one of two timepieces ORIS made with memory capacity. This version features four independent totalizers that can be used to record all manner of things: two players' golf game, for instance, or basketball faults, rowers' stroke rate per minute or even how many cigarettes you smoke a day. The two totalizers at top can count up to l0 points of any even; the bottom pair run O to 23. Multiplication by 10 allows the watch to store up to 230 points on either pair. (The other version of this watch was customized for soccer, with two goal counters and one each for fouls and corners.)

I purchased this watch in the summer of 2013. The case, back, dial, second hand and the hands for the four counters are all original. Based only upon web photos of other model 7412 watches, I believe that at some point a previous owner had the original thin black non-lume'd hands replaced with the lume'd version shown. I wrote to ORIS asking if this was a factory issue version or a user's modification, but never received a response. Since I've never come across another Player's watch with lume'd hands, I suspect the latter. The watch has not, to my knowledge, been serviced, leading to the following observations:

- the watch winds and runs and maintains fairly good time whilst being worn, but stops within a couple of hours after removal. Winding is a tad stiff.

- the counter pushbuttons advance their respective counters as expected, but like the winder feel stiff/sticky.

I have not tried to clean the exterior of the watch or the crystal beyond a gentle wiping with a mildly damp, cleanser-free microfiber cloth. The strap was provided with the watch and is an after-market leather strap with tang clasp.

While not a pristine watch, it certainly is a conversation piece and would be cherished by a golfer looking for something unique on the wrist, or a dedicated Oris collector. I am selling this only because I need to consolidate my collection to release funds for a new acquisition. I can provide the email contact information for an authorized Oris service centre in Montreal, if desired.

Please leave me a PM - I am always checking in to see the latest items here. Thanks for looking!
