I’ll start by saying I’ve enjoyed wearing this watch. But I’m not a Seiko collector and this really belongs with one. Great case design, beautiful dial, interesting technology. Nice collectable watch, say the Seiko folks. Lots to offer a collector.
So. It’s a Seiko 7005-8042. The serial number 242182 shows it was made in April 1972.
It is 36 mm wide; 43 mm lug to lug, and takes an 18mm strap.
It was made in the days when Seiko made watches that did not hand wind. In this watch, the crown sets the time and quickset date. To start it, you strap it on and off it goes.
This had a cracked crystal when I bought it last year. Off it went to the watchmaker for a full service (2020), and a new Seiko crystal. It runs very well, timekeeping is excellent. I’ve worn it infrequently since the work was done, with no issues at all.
As far as I can tell, the dial is perfect. No dirt or corrosion on the hands or markers. The case has some dings and scratches from use, these show in the big pictures but are not particularly notable in the wrist. The watch shows no signs of ever being polished. The bevels on the sides of the case are as they should be. All in all, a solid addition for someone who likes vintage Seiko.
The NATO straps shown are sized to fit me, so I will include a leather strap.
I think $475 is reasonable. That will include ExpressPost tracked shipping. Payment by EFT.
Lots of references on CWC, and I’m happy to answer questions.
