Up for consideration is watch that has been a real joy to wear and photograph thanks to its immensely photogenic nuances that any owner would appreciate.
The Spirit lineup needs no introduction, as it’s arguably launched the Longines brand to the forefront of collectors minds when they’re considering a quality luxury timepiece at an affordable price.
This newly released reference L3.809.4.53.9 with the 39mm case size, hits all the right spots and then some; with a reasonable lug to lug of 47.2, a case thickness of 11.5mm and a lug width of 20mm, its the ideal unisex size and just as easily paired to the female, male or androgynous wrist - pictured on my 7.3” wrist.
With clean, simple lines, the designers have accentuated the curves and edges on this timepiece to a level of mastery one would expect on a much more expensive timepiece. Add to that a time only design, with incredible AR coating on both sides of the crystal, Gilt markers and handset against a matte black dial and you get a watch that would please the masses of hobbyists and civilians alike.
If that wasn’t enough, the rubber strap paired to the watch is one for the books as the fabric style texture would confuse even the most seasoned horologist with its inherent comfort and colour tone.
Ideal for those who find the 37mm Spirit too small and the 42mm too big, this would be all one needs as a daily driver, but to appeal to those with discerning taste Longines treats us to an antimagnetic silicon balance spring and Chronometer certification, which has this watch running at a staggering 0s/day.
The watch itself is in pristine condition, having barely been worn, even by myself.
Only a few months old, it still retains the balance of the 5 year warranty and comes as a full set with tag, COSC Certificate, booklet, warranty card and double box.
For what you get, the retail price of $3450 isn’t unreasonable; at my price of $2450 shipped, it’s quite honestly a no brainer.
