Hey folks
Up for grabs is the 4th generation of the Planet Ocean, that is a throwback not just to the earlier sizing of the PO models but also to the Seamaster 300’s from the 1957 Era.
Very compact on wrist thanks to a short lug to lug of 47.5mm, it wears closer to a 41mm timepiece, something most wrists will appreciate. Thickness comes in at 13.8mm and lug width is 21mm.
Powering the watch is the 8912 caliber that is also featured in the Seamaster 300 Heritage model, which was also fashioned after the 1957 Era Seamaster 300.
This means in addition to a purist no date dive watch, you also get the benefit of a jump hour time zone complication with the hour hand.
While the case looks like an entirely new concept, there are subtle nuances to the timepiece that harkens back to the earlier models; the font is similar to the 3rd gens and the open 6 and 9 is a throwback to the 1st gen.
Similarly the bombé lugs are no more on this model and have been swapped for a chiseled more masculine appearance, though there is a curvature to the lines, which again draws from the curve of the bombé lugs.
The rubber strap is standard fare for Omega; supple, pliant and very wearable but with an almost bracelet like texture and appearance. The strap itself is attached to a removable end link, which will allow you to customize a strap fitted to the end link or to the lug, per your fancy.
The watch is in overall excellent to near mint condition, with no discernible signs of wear, though there may be some minor marks I might have missed.
Overall a beautiful, masculine and daily worthy timepiece that needs to be worn to be appreciated.
Retail is $11,300 plus tax.
I’m asking almost 20% off at $9199 shipped from the GTA
